Description

The Wattstown Hotel is a three-storey rectangular building constructed of coursed rockfaced sandstone with yellow brick dressings and chimneys topped with yellow pots. It features a Welsh slate roof, which has end stacks, one of which is now missing, and a central front stack that is rendered on the sides.

The building has five windows across the front. On the first floor, there are four-pane margin glazed sashes with decorative yellow brick surrounds, stone keystones, and flush sills, with ventilator grilles between the sills. The smaller windows above are similar in style. The ground floor mainly features eight-pane sashes with glazing bars of unequal thickness, and to the right, there is a cambered arched doorway with a four-panelled margin glazed door and an engraved glass overlight that reads 'The Wattstown Hotel'.

The right side of the building is rendered and includes one small margin glazed light and one later inserted window. The left side has a two-window range of mostly margin glazed horned sashes, with a central doorway that has a renewed door. At the rear, there is a shallow rendered cross wing that is three storeys on one side and two storeys on the other.

Inside, the hotel mostly retains its original layout, featuring a central hall and staircase. Many original furnishings are still present, including shutters, moulded door surrounds, four-panelled doors, glazed swing doors, some dado rails, ceiling mouldings, and a black marble fireplace.
