Description

The Jug & Platter, formerly known as The Bute Dock, is a late Georgian public house that stands two stories tall with a front featuring three bays on the right and two bays on the left, the latter being earlier and taller. The three-bay section is constructed of colourwashed brick and includes a parapet, cornice, plinth, and a band course between the floors. The building has a slate roof with brick chimney stacks at each end, which have been cut down on the left side, and it features skylights.

On the first floor, there is a 12-pane sash window, while the ground floor showcases camber-headed tripartite horned sash windows, complete with keystones and voussoirs. The central entrance is framed by a pilastered doorcase with a cornice above, and it includes a simple diamond-paned overlight and panelled double doors. The two-window section on the left is rendered and has a gable parapet, adjoining the National Westminster Bank. This section features 16-pane sashes on the first floor, offset to the left. Overall, the public house has a paired cornice bracket and pilasters flanking a central tripartite bar window, with an entrance to the right and a former doorway to the left, also with panelled double doors.
