Description
The Bar Emporium is a narrow building dating from the 19th century, faced with pale ashlar on a granite plinth and designed in a round arched style. It features parapets above a slate hipped roof. The front on St Mary Street has three storeys and two bays, with a cornice above the first floor. The second and first floors have round-headed windows, with the second-floor windows showcasing carved spandrels and keystones, while the first-floor windows are separated by pilasters. There is a two-storey bay window on the right side, extending across the ground and first floors. On the left side of the ground floor, there is a flat-headed doorway with an architrave in red granite, set within a round-headed arch made of grey Bessbrook granite.
The Westgate Street front has similar dimensions and materials but consists of only two storeys and a basement. It features segmental-headed windows on the second floor and tall round-headed windows flanked by pilasters on the first floor. At the right end of the first floor, there is an oval lunette above a granite doorway, which is topped with a broken segmental pediment.
