Description
The Old Rectory is a two-storey house built in the mid-19th century in a Tudor style, typical for rectories. Constructed from local limestone random rubble with some dressings and ashlar chimneys, it has an L-shaped plan with the main block facing south and the entrance located in the angle on the east front.
The south elevation features two bays, with a large gable on the left above the principal living room and bedroom, which has pierced bargeboards. The entrance front shows the gable end of the main section to the left, with an external stack topped by a triple flued chimney that has common weathering. The central bay contains the entrance, which has a 2-centred arch and an upper room that projects on brackets. There is a modern door and a single light window in a half-hipped gable. To the right, there is a 3-light mullion-and-transom window for the Rector's study, with a 2-light window above it in a gable, and all three gables feature pierced bargeboards. A gable stack is located to the right, along with a single bay extension to the right and a larger one on the west side. The interior details were not available during the resurvey.
