Description
Dunraven Arcade is a terraced group of three-storey classical buildings, constructed in the early 19th century with later alterations. The frontages are finished in scribed and plain stucco, featuring an overall moulded cornice and a plain entablature. Numbers 22 to 26 have balustraded parapets, while pilaster strips are present at the ends and each bay of the arcade, adorned with Grecian capitals. There is an overall cill band at the second floor, and also at the first floor of Nos 26 and 30. The roofs are slate, with a steeper pitch on Nos 22 to 26, and No 28 includes an attic storey. The chimney stacks are made of rubble and brick.
The windows are arranged as three-window fronts for Nos 26 and 30, a two-window front for No 28, and one-window fronts for Nos 22 and 24. Most first-floor windows have bracketed lintels, except for No 28, which features architraves on both floors. The outer bays of No 26 have pedimented bracket lintels. No 28 retains small-pane sash glazing, while Nos 22 and 24 also have sash windows; Nos 26 and 30 have a mix of sash and modern windows. The buildings have modern shop fronts throughout, and a drum clock projects from No 28 on ornate iron brackets. The left side of the arcade is exposed due to the demolition of a London house.
