Description
The building is a former fire station and post office van depot, dated 1936, and features a rare EV111R insignia. It is shown on a 1952 listing map as a fire station and was later used as a post office van depot. The structure is two stories high with a three-bay front that is cement rendered and has square-headed windows. The first-floor windows have deep architraves and small pane glazing, with a tripartite arrangement in the center. The broad entrance on the ground floor is also framed by a similar architrave and is supported by Doric columns. It has sliding doors, with a smaller door located to the left. The roof is made of slate and glazed materials. At the time of inspection in April 1986, the building was disused. This structure is included as a rare public building from the reign of Edward VIII.
