Description
Ynys-y-bont Bridge is a road bridge that features a single arch made of rock-faced rubble stone, with a relatively large span. The arch is constructed using large rock-faced stone voussoirs and a keystone, with the edges of the arch stones cut smooth. The soffit of the bridge is made of finely worked tooled blocks, with the masonry courses skewed and a rock-faced raised band at the base of the arch on each side. The parapets were rebuilt in the late 20th century, which may have resulted in the loss of a string course below, but they still retain the original large rock-faced stone coping blocks. There are raised coping blocks resembling short piers just before the northwest end of each parapet. The abutments of the bridge curve outward at the southeast end.
