Description
Cefn Coed Colliery Boilerhouse features a row of six Lancashire boilers that are in excellent condition, dating from their installation in 1926 and 1927. The oldest boiler was re-used from another site and dates back to 1910. In 1958, four of the six boilers were converted to operate on methane gas sourced from the mine workings instead of coal. These boilers are made of wrought iron and are set on a brick plinth, originally standing in the open air. They are now protected by a modern cover structure.
