Description
The lychgate to the churchyard of the Church of St Matthew is a Grade II listed structure. It is constructed of timber supported by two low walls made of rubble and ashlar. The roof is gabled and features bargeboards, covered with fishscale slates and topped with limestone ridge tiles. The timber used appears to be pine. The lychgate has two bays on each side, with openings that have cusped heads. Inside, there are three cambered tie-beams with king-posts leading up to an axial timber, which is supported by collars of rafter couples. Additionally, there are arch braces connecting the king-posts to the tie-beams.
