Description
The Howel Gwyn memorial is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Matthew. It is a memorial cross made of red Aberdeen granite, standing on a tapered pedestal that features inscriptions. The cross is designed in the style of a Celtic cross, with rope moulding along the edges, an inscription around the circular part, and seven small carved panels displaying floral motifs. The center of the cross includes an IHS motif. Above the pedestal is a narrow grey granite plinth that bears inscriptions commemorating Howel Gwyn, who died in 1888, and his wife, who died in 1900. The side panels of the plinth also contain inscribed texts. Surrounding the memorial is a grey granite plinth and a red granite kerb.
