Description
Cymmer Bridge is a double carriageway bridge made of ferro-concrete, featuring a pair of arch ribs that are braced together and rise from main rusticated piers. These arch ribs support vertical spandrel columns, which in turn hold up the decking and parapet. The main piers extend above the parapets and are topped with saddleback copings. The open-work parapets are built in sections, featuring narrow vertical panels and moulded copings. They curve outward at the ends, except for the southwest end, where they finish in square rusticated piers. The southwest pier includes an inset bronze plaque with relief lettering that commemorates the bridge's erection and opening. The flat deck is covered with tarmac and has footways on each side.
