Description

Fairy Hill House is a three-storey Georgian country house, likely dating from the 18th century. It faces south with a three-window front elevation overlooking private grounds. The front of the house is rough cast rendered, topped by a slate roof with tile ridges and multi-flue end chimneys. The window heights diminish as they rise, although the ground floor may have been altered to include French windows. The first floor has four-pane sash windows, while the top floor has casement windows. Several original six-pane sash windows remain at the rear of the main house. Two-storey extensions flank the front elevation, featuring front parapets and tripartite sash windows with three vertical panes in each main sash. A low, rendered two-storey wing extends north at the west side of the house, while additional 19th-century ranges are located to the west. A single-storey flat-roofed hotel extension has been added to the front. A two-storey wing extends north at the east side, partially rendered. Its upper storey at the east and north is faced in uncoursed stonework with brick window surrounds, featuring twelve-pane sash windows with margin glazing above and below. A small flat-roofed porch on the east side, now the main hotel entrance, is supported by two Tuscan columns on plinths.
