Description
Clyne Gardens Glass Houses consist of a row of four attached three-quarter span greenhouses that step down a slope, backing onto the red brick northern wall of the former kitchen garden. The greenhouses feature wooden-framed superstructures built on red brick bases, with opening windows at the ridge and pivoting windows at the fronts. Half-lit panelled doors are located in the end walls. Some wooden finials are still present on the roof, and much of the original glazing and some cast-iron gutters remain intact. However, the uppermost greenhouse is in poor condition, with part of its roof having collapsed.
Inside, the greenhouses have cast iron roof brackets and retain iron cranks, which are inscribed with the maker's name, along with shafts that operate the ventilation system. Some heating pipes can still be found in the lower greenhouse.
