Description
The Lime Kiln is a well-preserved structure standing about 3 meters high, built from local uncoursed axe-dressed limestone. It features a bow-shaped front with a ground ramp leading up to its rear. Inside, there is one working recess with vertical sides, and the face over the drawhole is corbelled out. The working recess is covered by a stone arch that is segmental in shape, spanning approximately 2 meters and slightly tapering inwards. The floor of the working recess is paved with flagstones. Access to the platform is provided by steps on the north side. The lining of the kiln consists of thin courses of sandstone, which are intact and visible for the full height, rising about half a meter above the kiln platform level in some areas.
