Description

This is a substantial pair of houses and shops, dating to the 18th century. The building has a rendered slate roof, close eaves, and rendered gable stacks. It features large pane four-light sash windows with raised architraves and cills resting on supporting brackets. The structure is three storeys high and four bays wide. A single large window is present on the left ground floor bay, while the rest of the ground floor contains shop fronts, united by a continuous cornice supported on console brackets. A six-panel door is located on the left, with panelled reveals and a plain overlight. The main display window incorporates an recessed central splayed part-glazed door and overlight, flanked by three-section windows with arched framing, a plain stall board, and risers. An altered shop front is present on the right, but the original framing has been retained. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain the original plan form and constructional or decorative features contributing to the building’s group value.
