Description
The building is a former granary associated with the malt house, originally designed as a two-storey structure but now modified to one storey with an attic. It features rubble masonry and a slate hipped roof on the road side. The front has modern windows and doors, currently serving as a shop. On the east side, there are three modern dormers that overlook the Little Malt House garden, with eaves that overhang attic ventilation panels, casement windows with timber lintels, and some blocked windows. The west side has fewer windows that overlook the Malt House garden.
Inside, the granary consists of ten bays and retains a simple A-frame roof construction made of dowelled timbers, with overlapping purlins and a ridge beam. The collars are lightly cambered and vary in height, pegged in pairs to the trusses without being tenoned. The tie beams have been removed, and modern supports have been added. The first floor is partially retained at the ends and features a rear section above a stone-flagged area that was once used for a vat.
