Description

The Lodge is a Grade II listed building constructed from rubble stone, designed to appear as if the stones are randomly piled. It features slate eaves roofs with decorative fretted bargeboards on all gables. The building is a single-storey, L-shaped structure with a lower northwest rear wing.

The front range includes a circular rubble stone chimney stack on the south end, a large projecting stone porch to the left, and a long window to the right. The porch has a Tudor arched entry made of tooled stone, with open side panels filled with shaped flat balusters, which is an unusual detail. Inside the porch, there is a square-headed doorway with a studded plank door. The long cross-window to the right has a rock-faced lintel and sill, as well as a stone hoodmould, beneath a small eaves gable. The south end features an external chimney breast with sloping set-offs.

At the rear, there is a central gabled projection with a large cross-window that has a hoodmould and stone sill. The northwest wing at the back has a large circular rubble chimney on a square base, along with an external chimney breast on the west wall. The north front has a large cross-window to the left of a plain door. The stonework at the rear prominently displays local purple and grey stone.

The building has not been inspected.
