Description
The former stable and cartshed adjoining the churchyard of St Michael's Church is a two-storey building at the downhill end and a single-storey at the uphill end, constructed on a sloping site. It is made of rubble sandstone and has a corrugated iron roof. In the center, there is a full-height opening with corrugated iron sheets above boarded double doors. To the right of this opening is a blocked doorway featuring a wooden lintel and drip stone, and further right is a former doorway with a similar lintel and drip stone that has been converted into a shuttered opening. At the downhill end, there is a window with an opening light in the upper storey and a fixed window below.
On the left end, there is a lower gabled projection set back, which has a boarded door in the downhill gable end. This one-bay projection is open-fronted with double boarded doors. The gable end of the projection features a continuous drip stone, indicating a former lean-to. The uphill gable end has an added lean-to with boarded double doors and a blocked doorway to its right.
The rear of the building is built into the bank of the churchyard and has an opening to the left and a blocked opening to the left of center, both with wooden lintels. Although not inspected at the time of the survey in February 1998, it is reported to retain a domestic fireplace.
