Description
Nos 5 and 6 Glamorgan Street comprise a former pair of houses, now converted into flats. The building is rendered with bands marking the sill levels of the second and first floors, rusticated quoins, and a plinth. It has a slate roof and stone chimneys. The three-storey front has a six-window arrangement facing Glamorgan Street, with shallow projecting bays at each end. The windows have moulded architraves, and the first-floor sash windows have three panes and horns. Two adjoining doorways are centrally positioned, featuring half-glazed panelled doors with side lights and plain semi-circular fanlights recessed within semi-circular arched surrounds, which incorporate keystones and pilasters. The rear elevation is characterised by three broad gables, each spanning the width of two windows, featuring small-pane sash windows. There is an additional, narrow window in the end bay of number 6, and a single-storey lean-to addition in the central bay.
The interiors are now divided between several flats and not readily accessible. Number 6 retains features indicative of its early to mid-18th century origins, including a staircase with 'barley-sugar' twisted balusters. There is also a fireplace with a shouldered architrave and egg and dart moulding, along with panelled walls and an enriched plaster ceiling within a rear ground floor room.
