Description

Dan-y-graig Farm consists of an old farmhouse and adjoining outbuildings. The cottage is built from colourwashed rubble stone and features a steeply pitched corrugated iron roof. The stone stack at the west end, noted in 1975, has since been removed. The south front has a fireplace projection to the left, with the roof extending over it, and includes one small 6-pane fixed window. The central door has a timber lintel, with a blank recess to the right under the eaves. There is a loft door in the east end gable, which is adorned with stone voussoirs. The rear of the cottage is obscured by an added outbuilding but has a door to the right with a stone lintel.

The outbuilding's roof was originally at the same level as the house but has completely collapsed. The south side of the outbuilding has three inserted windows, while the north side, which was the principal face, features a large opening to the left with a timber lintel and three doors with stone voussoirs, all of which have been altered to windows. There is a square loft window with its head at eaves level to the right of centre.

Inside the house, there are heavy beams and a fireplace at the west end, which has a timber lintel. To the left of the fireplace, there is a door leading into the outbuilding. The projection to the left of the door may have been the site of a winding staircase, which has since been removed. The rear wall contains two blocked windows, and there are traces of former partitions in the unheated inner rooms. The roof features two collar-trusses supporting a double-purlin structure.
