Description

The Cider House and Cottage at Llanvihangel Court is a two-storey building constructed of red brick in English Garden Wall bond on a stone rubble base, with the rear wall primarily made of stone. The stone tile roof was being stripped and prepared for replacement with felt and battens at the time of inspection in May 1997. The building is set into the bank, featuring a cottage on the left end and a cider-house on the right, which includes a granary or apple store above.

An elliptically arched porch is located left of center, providing access to both the cottage and the cider-house. The cottage has a modern French door to the left and three small casements above, while the cider-house has two openings to the upper floor room on the right. A brick stack is present on the left gable, and there is a taking-in door on the right gable with a small window above. The rear elevation features a three-light window for the cider-house and a two-light window above it, along with two casements below and three above for the cottage, plus a modern glazed door.

The interior of the cottage was not available for inspection during the resurvey in May 1997. The cider-house retains its cider mill and press in situ. The apple loft contains mid to late 19th-century scissor brace trusses, although some of the purlins and principals appear to be from an earlier period.
