Description
Fen Hill is a Regency-style, two-storey house featuring a stucco front and a plinth. It has a double-pile structure arranged in a U-plan, similar to Parson’s Lodge and Mapsland. The building is topped with hipped slate roofs, which include a gabled extension on the left and brick chimney stacks. The main front has three windows, with the left bay set back. It features recessed 12-pane sash windows and French windows on the ground floor, complemented by diamond-glazed fanlights. The timber detailing is also present on the trellised verandah.
To the left, there is a two-window entrance front dated 1865 on the gable, which has similar windows and a modern porch with a pitched roof leading to an arched doorway. The original rear range is set back to the left and maintains similar detailing. There is a blind rubble end wall of the cross range set back to the right, which has a lean-to at the northeast end.
Notably, the house retains an unusual water system that collects rainwater in the basement to be pumped up for use.
