Description

The entrance features gate piers, low retaining walls, and low railings, dating from the 18th century. There are two grey stone ashlar gate piers topped with pyramid caps. Each side has a serpentine (double-curved) length of low retaining wall that is cement-capped, supporting low wrought-iron railings with spearheads on the rails and urn caps on the stanchions. At each end, there are similar short lengths of wall that return outward at right angles. The east side has a length running east along the A40, while the west side has a length that returns at right angles to run back down the lane.
