Description

Ystradffin is a farmhouse, likely dating to the 17th century, constructed of rubble stone with a slate roof. The front elevation was formerly whitewashed, and the sides and rear are also whitewashed. The building is two storeys high, with a three-window front featuring cambered-headed 16-pane sash windows with stone voussoirs and stone sills. A half-glazed door is set within a similar arched surround. The north end of the building is roughcast, with a loft light. A northeast rear wing features a red brick east-facing stack. An outshut is located to the north of this wing, and has a straight joint in its rubble stone east wall.

The building was not inspected, but the front wall on the right side is unusually thick. The south front room is reputedly a former court-room, and is said to have contained a seat within the window embrasure. A corner hole is also said to have been used for hanging condemned individuals. Heavy, elaborately moulded beams may date back to the 17th century.
