Description
The engine house and chimney at the Rhandirmwyn lead-mine are notable industrial structures. The engine house is made of rubble stone and is roofless, featuring a rectangular shape with large arched windows that have brick heads. On the north side, there are two arched windows and a small brick-arched opening to the right. The west end wall is rendered and includes a large arched window, although the sill has been cut down. The south wall is windowless and has a parallel wall that may have been a lean-to. The east end has a similar large brick-arched opening and the remains of a wall at the southeast that connects to the chimney, which is depicted as more intact on the cover of G W Hall's book. The chimney itself is circular, constructed of rubble stone with a brick top, and features a low brick arch at its base. In the center of the floor, there is a large stone-lined wheel-pit.
