Description
Nantyffin is a cottage constructed from rubble stone, featuring a metal sheet roof that covers the remaining thatch, along with a 20th-century reconstructed wooden chimney at the south end. The front wall has been largely rebuilt, and there may have originally been some clay-walling. There are small windows on either side of the door, all with timber lintels. The door lintel is higher and has a small square light above it, located under the eaves. The right window has a renewed lintel, and both the door and windows have been replaced. The end walls are blank.
The cottage has been converted into a single-room shop. At the south end, there is a surviving 'wicker' chimney hood, which is actually made of plastered and whitewashed lath in a curving shape, supported by a full-width timber beam. There are 20th-century whitewashed stone cupboards on either side of the fire, extending up to the level of the timber beam. The roof features tie-beam and collar trusses, rough rafters, and visible bracken underthatch.
