Description

Plasdderwen is a three-bay, three-storey terraced house dating from the 18th century. It has a slate gabled roof and modern brick chimney stacks. The front facade is of painted stucco with long and short quoins, and a stone plinth. There are hornless sash windows throughout; the upper floor has six-pane windows with a painted blank central opening, while the lower floors have twelve-pane windows, the central one being a dummy. The central entrance features a six-panel door with early door furniture, set within a panelled, square-headed recess, which itself is framed by a fine wooden doorcase with a Greek triglyph and mutule entablature on slender, fluted Tuscan columns.

To the left of the main house is a single-bay, two-storey section, with internal access to an adjacent property. This section also has a slate gabled roof and bracketed eaves. The upper floor is painted stucco with a nine-pane hornless sash window. The lower floor has been altered with a 19th-century shop front, consisting of a single-pane window to the left and a door to the right, with an overlight that has been boarded over. This shop front incorporates thin, later 19th-century column shafts and spandrel brackets and has a fascia covered by 20th-century boarding.

The interior is not accessible, but is reportedly original, featuring a staircase, cornices and arched recesses. Dividing walls are present behind the upper central windows. The downstairs front rooms are said to contain arched recesses flanking fireplaces, although the original 18th-century chimney pieces are no longer present. The staircase behind the left front room is said to be of oak.
