Description
Toll Cottage is a single-storey toll house featuring a semi-hexagonal front. The building is constructed of lime-washed rubble and has slate sills with rectangular hood moulds above the windows. It has a hipped slate roof and a central rectangular stone chimney topped with a tented slate cover. The central doorway is a 20th-century stable door, and on either side of it, there are original narrow window openings with late 19th-century or early 20th-century horned sash windows. A similar window on the left side, towards the rear, has casement glazing.
Although not inspected, it is reported that the cottage is divided into two rooms by a transverse wall that includes a fireplace. The front room has a recess that is said to have been used for toll monies, and there is a doorway leading to the rear room, which features a modern partition that forms a kitchen and bathroom.
