Description

The Armoury is a former stable building, originally part of The Serjeants Inn. It dates to an unknown period, though most likely the 18th century. The building is constructed of whitewashed rubble stone with a close-eaved slate roof. It is a single-storey structure with a loft, and the northwest corner is chamfered. The north front has five openings, featuring painted Cilgerran stone voussoirs. These comprise a window and a door to the left, and a window, a door, and a window to the right. The building has boarded doors and windows, which were covered over in 1997; it is said that the windows originally contained nine panes of glass. Slate sills are present. At the east end, stone steps lead to a loft door, although the platform has been reconstructed in concrete.
