Description
Berllan is a three-storey building dating from the 19th century, constructed of colourwashed roughcast with a slate hipped valley roof. It features four corniced stone stacks, two located on the ridges behind the front range and two on the coped rear gables. The building has a square plan with the main front facing east and subsidiary three-window facades to the south and north.
The structure has a raised plinth and paired brackets supporting flat overhanging eaves. The windows are hornless 12-pane sashes set in plain stucco surrounds, with 6-pane sashes on the top floor and 12-pane sashes elsewhere. The east front includes a central six-panel door with a radiating-bar fanlight framed in a rectangle. This doorcase is made of timber and features long console brackets and a plain shelf.
The north front is similar, but the ground floor has a central door with a large square overlight, which may have replaced a sash window. The south front is also similar but consists entirely of windows, mostly horned sashes. The rear of the building has flat coping between the gable stacks, and the main part of the wall is recessed under a broad elliptical arch.
