Description
This is a single-story L-shaped range, built in the 18th century. It served as a cowhouse range at Llawhaden House. The building is constructed from rubble masonry, with some areas showing informally coursed stonework, and larger stones used for the quoins. It has a slate roof with tile ridges, some of which have been replaced. The east-west wing faces south, and the north-south wing faces west. At the west end of the east-west wing are three cart-sheds, while the remainder of the range comprises cow and calf sheds. Small windows and ventilators are present on all sides.
The doors facing south and west are boarded, with ventilation gaps between the door and frame, and are topped by flat brick arches. Slit ventilators are spaced at intervals along the walls, and there are two small openings.
The three cart-sheds feature semi-elliptical arches that rest on square stone piers. Each stone arch is backed by a massive, similarly shaped, carved oak beam.
