Description
The Parish Church of St Teilo is a small vernacular church with medieval origins. It features an aisle-less nave that is narrower than the chancel. The exterior is constructed from random rubble masonry with a thick application of mortar. At the west end, there is a gabled bellcote with water tabling. The church has moderately pitched slate roofs, with the chancel having a lower and gentler pitch.
The west window has Y-tracery and is pointed, while the south porch is gabled and features a cambered arch and a slate roof. Inside, there is a Gothic panelled inner door. The nave includes a 19th-century three-light panelled tracery window, which is similar to those on the north side and at the east end. Additionally, there is a modern brick boilerhouse located at the north angle of the chancel.
The interior has a boarded roof and plaster walls, along with 19th-century wall monuments dedicated to the Eaton Family of Parc Glas. A slab commemorating Richard Mathias from 1763 is set into the north wall. The chancel is defined by a four-centred arch.
