Description

This milepost, located in Tavernspite village, consists of two cast-iron plates with pointed tops. The plates are positioned at a right angle to each other and are attached to a solid backing, but they are not fixed to one another.

The plate facing west indicates a distance of '16 miles 1301 yards to Carmarthen', while the east-facing plate shows '4 miles 1219 yards to Narberth'. Both plates feature the smaller inscription 'Marychurch Foundry' at the bottom. This milepost is the first along the Tavernspite turnpike and is situated near the former location of the turnpike gate.
