Description
The barn at Upper Lamphey Barn is a rectangular structure with an elaborate semi-hexagonal southern end. It is built from rubble limestone with brick dressings and has a corrugated roof covering. The west wall features a doorway and a rectangular window at ground level, along with a pitching doorway at the first floor, located at the southwest corner where there is also a blocked doorway. The windows have flat brick arches, and some are partly blocked on the hexagonal sides by a staircase and a cow house. There are two rectangular recesses at the base of the staircase, which may have served as goose pens or kennels. The east wall has a large double doorway, which is situated behind a later lean-to, and there are two wooden framed windows above this doorway.
The interior of the barn has been damaged by fire in the 20th century. A fireplace has been knocked into the flue of medieval buildings at the northern end, and a fireplace in the east wall contains a disused modern corn bin and drying equipment.
