Description
The retaining wall and garden wall at Monkton Old Hall are constructed of rough rubble stone. The wall starts to the right of a 19th-century pointed stone garden doorway, which features cut stone voussoirs. It then ramps up to a higher level of terrace in front of the cross-wing of the Old Hall, topped with grey limestone coping stones. The wall steps in past the house and continues, curving around to a wide gateway that is flanked by two 19th-century stone piers with pyramidal coping.
