Description
The forecourt retaining wall for Nos. 1 and 2 Church Terrace is made of rubble stone. These buildings are situated on a natural rock outcrop, which is faced along the street with a stone rubble retaining wall. The bedrock is exposed in the wall to the right of No. 2, where the wall is then interrupted for recessed steps leading to No. 2. Adjacent to this, there is a high rubble retaining wall topped with an overgrown rubble wall in front of the right half of No. 1. This wall returns to form a sloping parapet leading to the steps beside the facade of No. 1, with the retaining wall continuing along the street line in front and sloping downward.
