Wern Gwyddel is a cottage built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, constructed from rubble stone with a slate roof and stone end stacks, the southern end stack being large and made of ashlar. The cottage features a central door flanked by a four-pane sash window on each side, all with slate sills. There is a lean-to on the northern end, an outshut at the rear, and a loft window on the southern end.
Inside, there is a massive timber fireplace lintel at the northern end, along with a large chamfered and stopped ceiling beam positioned just in front of the fireplace. Additionally, there is another large rough beam and a chamfered beam in the southern end wall. A small staircase is located by the fireplace.
