Description
Norton Lodge is a three-storey house, likely dating from the 18th century, rendered in painted stucco with a slate roof and stuccoed end stacks. The building is double-fronted, but offset to the left. The windows on the left side are closely placed against the party wall of number 31, and the left corner features projecting stones, suggesting that number 31 was originally intended to be rebuilt to match the three-storey height of Norton Lodge. The second floor has two nine-pane sash windows. The first floor features two late 19th-century canted oriel windows, with two, four, and two panes per sash, moulded cornices, and flat roofs. On the ground floor, a central arched doorway is flanked by large four-pane sash windows on either side. The doorway has a mid to later 19th-century stucco surround with tapered pilasters, large console brackets, and a cornice. An impost band runs along the window reveals, and the doorway itself contains a six-panel door and a traceried fanlight with an unusual radiating three-petal design, also seen on number 31. The right end wall is stuccoed and has a small loft light. The left end wall is clad in slate. A parallel rear range extends from the main house.
