Description
Cartref is an early 19th-century farmhouse built from rubble stone, topped with a grouted slate roof and featuring stone end wall stacks. The front of the house is asymmetrical, with two storeys and three windows. On the ground floor, there is a central door flanked by 12-pane sash windows, all of which have brick heads. To the left of the centre, there is a blocked door with a similar brick head. The upper floor has small square sashes that just break the eaves, along with two 12-pane sashes and one 9-pane sash, all of the same size; only the right window aligns with the ground floor opening. The windows have painted slate sills. The south end wall is whitewashed, while the southwest rear wing is made of stone and features a large stone porch with a side entry facing east and a window on each side, plus one upper window. Inside, there is a large inglenook fireplace located at the west end of the rear wing.
