Description
Highway Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse that underwent alterations later in the 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with an unpainted rendered front, topped by a slate roof and featuring stone end stacks. The building is two stories high and has a three-window range of plate glass sashes, with a central half-glazed door. The unpainted stucco details, likely added in the 20th century, include angle piers, labels over the upper windows, vermiculated rusticated surrounds below, and an arch-headed door surround with imposts, a key, and a pebbledashed tympanum. These features are very similar to those found on houses in Upper West Street in Westleigh. The rendered east end includes a loft light.
At the rear, there is a projecting stair-gable with an arch-headed stair-light above, which has glazing bars and a traceried head, along with a sash window below.
