Description
Westleigh is an early 19th-century house featuring later unpainted stucco facing, a slate roof, and large stone end stacks. It stands two and a half storeys tall, is double-fronted, and has a central pedimental gable with nogged brick at the gable eaves. The gable includes a tripartite lunette window with glazing bars, while the main floors have two 12-pane hornless sash windows with slate sills. The entrance features a central six-panel door with four fielded panels and a traceried overlight. There is an earlier outbuilding located at the rear.
The house has raised stucco angle piers, vermiculated rusticated surrounds at the ground floor, labels above the first-floor windows, and an arch with a keystone above the lunette.
The pediment with lunette is a characteristic feature found on several buildings from the late 18th to early 19th centuries in the Cardigan-Fishguard area, possibly linked to a single builder. Similar features can be seen in Newport at Cromlech House and the former Rectory.
