Description
The former lifeboat house is a single-storey building constructed from rock-faced grey limestone, featuring imitation slates at the eaves of the roof. It has broad openings at both ends, with the seaward end being blocked in and rendered. The landward end retains its original large four-leaf folding doors, with the jambs corbelled in at the tops to support a steel lintel.
The side wall displays three elliptical-arched recesses, each with stone voussoirs forming the arches, and square piers in between. The stonework has tooled leading edges, and the recesses are set on rock-faced chamfered plinths. Each recess frames a small cambered-headed window, also with stone voussoirs, and features three-light glazing with top-lights and rock-faced stone sills. There are three iron vents located below the sills and three more positioned between the arch-heads and the eaves. A plaque from 1895 is located at the center of the building. The seaward gable end has a similar window above the blocked exit.
The roof is supported by three-bay pine construction with wishbone trusses.
