Description
The East Set of Kilns is a group of six large limekilns, likely built around the same time as the main set of kilns but with a simpler design. They are constructed from hammer-dressed limestone and feature rounded corners and slightly sloping main walls. The kilns are positioned against an old quarry face and face north. They are arranged in a row with single access spaces between them, creating a compact group. These access spaces are steeply vaulted. Each kiln has two working openings, one on the east side and one on the west side. The working openings are partially collapsed, allowing for some visibility of the interior, which has a diameter of about 4 meters and is lined with firebricks in header bond.
These kilns are listed for their significance as multiple limekilns from the railway era, dating from after 1863, and for their group value with the other kilns at Kiln Park.
