Description
No 3 Marsh Road Cottages, also known as Watermans Cottage, is a single-storey cottage that is part of a row of four. Originally built with painted roughcast rubble stone and a slate roof, it features end-wall grey limestone stacks. The cottage is double-fronted, with pointed windows on either side of a pointed door. The door and window heads are made of red brick, although this is only exposed on No 1. The cottage has tooled grey limestone raised quoins, impost blocks, and keystones at the openings, which have been painted over except on No 1. The windows are casements with fixed Gothic intersecting glazing bars at the pointed heads, and there is a boarded door. The front gardens are enclosed by rubble stone walls with stepped rough stone copings, and there is an outshut at the rear. No 3 is colourwashed and retains mostly original features, including unpainted impost and key blocks, while the paired casements may be the original type for the row.
