Description
The former Presbyterian Church is a chapel located within a terraced row, featuring a painted stucco front with a pedimented gable and three small pinnacles made of lead-clad stone. The building has raised channelled angle pilasters, a plinth, and moulded thin surrounds framing two large pointed windows that have 6-pane glazing. The Tudor-arched central doorway is accessed by two steps and is flanked by a tiny louvred Tudor-arched opening in the pediment. The right side wall is covered in slate, while the left side is constructed of rubble stone. There are arched windows with Y-tracery, and the rear includes two similar windows and a small ashlar rose above.
Inside, the walls are plastered, and the roof, dating from the late 19th century, features trusses on corbels with decorative arched braces and is ceiled at a high collar. On the south side, there are three arched windows, and two on the end wall beneath the rose, all of which contain patterned coloured glass. The gallery at the entrance end, originally designed for an organ, has been altered with 20th-century steps leading up to it and features a Gothic openwork front made of timber.
