Description
The Cobblers Shop is a single-storey, two-unit cottage that faces away from the lane. It is constructed of rubble and limewashed on the main elevation, featuring a corrugated sheet roof that has replaced the original slate. The cottage has stone gable-end stacks. Due to its positioning away from the road, a high rear wall was built, which is made of uncovered rubble and has no openings. There is a buttress against the lower gable end.
The main elevation includes an off-centre doorway with a boarded door, a 9-pane sash window to the right, and a taller fixed light 6-pane window to the left. All openings are topped with timber lintels. A small lean-to is attached to the right-hand gable end.
The building retains much of its original layout as a croglofft cottage, featuring a rough stud and stone partition and a loft over the left-hand section, with rough joists and boards. It has three pegged trusses. The left-hand room contains a fireplace with a small 4-pane wash window beside it, while the right-hand fireplace is blocked, and an opening has been created in the gable to connect with the lean-to.
