Description

The Festival of Britain beacon is a tall column made of cast iron, featuring a fluted base and the lower part of the shaft. At the top, it carries a bowl designed for a beacon, which has torches arranged around the rim. The column has a moulded ring at the foot, positioned over the base fluting, and includes a double ring above the shaft fluting as well as a double neck ring. The top flares out into a vertical-sided bowl, which has four cast-iron antique torches attached to its exterior.
