Description

Hafodygofaint Uchaf is a farmhouse dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with a slate eaves roof and yellow brick end stacks. The main two-storey section has a three-window range offset to the right. The upper floor features nine-pane sashes set close under the eaves, while the ground floor has twelve-pane sashes either side of the front door. All window and door openings are detailed with yellow brick voussoirs and slate sills. The front door is a board door with a deep three-pane overlight. A lower service wing is located to the left, built of similar materials. A brick stack is present on the left side of this wing, and it has a two-window range of sashes along with a board door with a narrow overlight in the right bay, set against the angle of the main house. The farmhouse is enclosed by a low rubble wall capped with slate, creating a narrow forecourt with two gateways featuring painted slate shaped gateposts. The interior was only partially inspected. The service wing contains a pine-boarded partition and a board door to the room on the left, which revealed pine joists.
