Description

Island House is a two-storey, three-window building, likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed with a rendered front, featuring a distinctive “scribed” effect achieved by incising lines into the render. The corners are emphasised with rusticated quoins – alternating long and short blocks of stone – and a continuous cill band runs along the base. The roof is slate, with wide, boarded eaves and two rendered chimney stacks. Windows are sash type; the ground floor has 16 panes per sash, while the first floor has 12. The windows have decorative hood moulds above them, featuring carved foliage and keystones. The central entrance is arched and contains a recessed six-panel door and a five-pane fanlight. The left and right sides of the building are also rendered in the same scribed style, with a sash window visible on the right side.
