Description
Aberffrwd is a Grade II listed building constructed from rubble stone with slate roofs and stone stacks. The structure consists of two buildings connected by common paired-bracket eaves and gables. The original house, located on the left, is two storeys high with a basement and features a two-window range along with stone end stacks. It has arched windows with stone voussoirs, where the upper pair showcases very unusual iron glazing bars with tiny panes and radiating-bar heads. The lower right window is narrower and includes a horned sash with intersecting tracery. The ground floor on the left has a six-panel door that is accessed by five stone steps, topped by a fan-traceried overlight within a pilastered timber doorcase, which has a renewed shelf hood supported by brackets. The rear of the original house also has a two-window range.
An addition from 1852 extends to the right and is two storeys with an attic, featuring a two-window range that is offset to the left. It has a high plinth and two 12-pane sashes on each floor, complete with stone voussoirs and stone sills. The gable displays a stone dentil course across the top, similar to the porch at Carrog, and has a circular window in the centre with attractive iron tracery. There is a stack on the north side wall and small single-storey outhouses. The rear includes a 12-pane sash on the left and 8-pane stair lights on the right.
Inside, there are two staircases, panelled shutters in the northeast room, and a three-bay roof in the northern addition.
